Permanent Brows: Microblading, Powder Fill, or Combo Treatment?

So you're interested in having permanent eyebrows, but you don't know where to start... In this post, I'll walk you through the benefits of permanent brows, the different styles/treatments, and what to expect! Let's dive in...

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a manual method of permanent cosmetics applied in the eyebrow area. This treatment is performed using a configuration of needles to deposit pigment into the brows. The result? Natural-looking, flawless and fuller brows that are smudge-proof, sweat-proof, and lasting! Right after treatment, brows will appear darker, but during the 7-10 day healing process, they will lighten up by about 20-40%.

The Benefits to Permanent Brows & What to Expect

Do you hate penciling in your brows everyday? More often than not, clients come to me with issues like sparse brows or a non-steady hand for filling in their arch with makeup each day. The benefits to investing in a permanent brow treatment are many, and the upkeep isn't nearly as bad as you may think! Here are some benefits, just to name a few:

  1. Your new, permanent brows will not smudge or sweat off, rendering them ideal for those with an active lifestyle.

  2. You will most likely not need to fill in your brows with makeup anymore each day.

  3. Permanent brows give your brows a more defined look, effectively shaping them to align with the dimensions of your face.

  4. They will help cover sparse areas lacking hair or areas with any scarring.

  5. Your new brows can last without fading for up to a year!*

On average, clients will scab and heal within 7-10 days of treatment. I also require a 30-day followup treatment in order to fine-tune the brows and ensure client satisfaction! The results and lasting effects of brows can vary client to client. *Some won't need touchups for a year or more, and some may need touchups sooner. It all depends on your metabolism and how much exposure to sunlight, water etc. you have. It is recommended to have your brows touched up annually to maintain the correct level of saturation and brow coverage!

Also, it is important to note that although the following permanent brow methods are forms of tattooing, discomfort has become greatly reduced due to the use of a topical numbing cream!

Microbladed Brows

Microblading is one of the most popular and common types of permanent brow treatments due to its natural look. Microblading is done by applying thin, hair-stroke lines to fill in the brows. Those who opt for microblading often desire to achieve a very natural-looking result. Microblading is a great way to fill in sparse areas of the brow without the outcome looking too "makeup-y."

Powder Fill Brows

Powder fill brows achieve a "powdery" makeup look. This form of permanent brows results in a more filled-in appearance and is ideal for clients looking to add more pigment to their brows all throughout (rather than just the hair stroke lines like in microblading). With powder fill brows, rarely will you need to fill in or darken up your eyebrows! This form of permanent makeup is great for those who want to wake up each day looking freshly done-up!

Combo Brows

Combo permanent brows are just that: a combo of microblading and powder fill! Combo brows are ideal for clients who want specific areas of their brows filled in more (like the tails) but want the look of real hair simulated in other areas (like towards the center of the brows). Combo brows results in a beautiful and full yet natural look.

So there you have it! The three types of permanent brows I specialize in and what to expect from your treatment! Ready to book your appointment, or have questions? Reach out to me today! :-)
